I have been in a very sad, drought in regards to some of my top media outlets being dismissed...well need i dare say it..going under ..Vibe Magazine which is the all time fav for urban news music and fashion! In addition to KING Magazine going under which I have had the pleasure of building a relationship with from pitching my client rapper Trina several cover stories! I cant help but wonder why is this happening to the declining rate of urban print publications.....not only were these timeless publications our markets gateway to current events and colorful images..VIBE Magazine was everything to a urban music publicist to score a client that cover was "once upon a time" GOLD!!!
I knew something just wasent right when I would phone in vibe to pitch clients or better yet extend an invitation to an event i was working that I JUST know they would usually like to cover! But never in my worst nightmare would i imagine they would be the latest target to the media recession
Vibe enjoyed significant success in the late '90s and early part of this decade as hip hop and R&B became the nation's predominant forms of pop music. But in recent years the title has fallen on hard times under its new owner, the Wicks Group, which bought it in 2006. In February, it reduced its circulation and publishing frequency, cut salaries and moved employees to a four-day workweek to save money.
Anywho it would be cool, to not give a fitting goodbye to VIBE or KING so RIP!!!
